Lazarus is an orange tabby and an important member of our staff. He
arrived at The Cat Clinic of Stillwater July 9, 2001. His mother was a
feral cat who appeared at a staff member’s house. Not long after her
first appearance, she arrived at the house with three kittens in
tow. The family was feral and did not want to be touched. The clinic
was notified that these kittens would be paying a visit. The kittens
disappeared before their scheduled appointment and were soon assumed
dead. A couple of days later, one small orange and white kitten
reappeared! He was scraggly and weighed little more than one pound! He
was immediately called Lazarus, as he had "risen from the dead", and
was taken to the clinic for care. There are two stories in the Bible
that ring true of our Lazarus. He showed up at the gate (AKA our
co-worker’s house) worn, frail and poor. He was assumed dead, but rose
again to a heavenly lifestyle here at the clinic. |

Like
all the other staff members, Lazarus works hard. He is the clinic
blood donor. To qualify for this position he happily ate his way to a
healthy weight of 13 pounds and submitted to numerous blood tests and
examinations. Several times a year, when a patient needs a blood
transfusion, additional testing is done to assure that Laz’s blood is
a perfect match. The rest of the year, Laz spends his days keeping
fit. He rests in his chair in the Doctor’s office or in the window,
he exercises by climbing his tree and playing with his toys. He is
also the official tester of all new kitty toys and treats. Some of his
food is placed in his Tricky Treat Ball and other snacks are hidden in
his tower and around the office. He delights in "hunting" for his
treats. Lazarus is a playful and carefree cat. He lives in a building
designed for cats and is cared for by a staff of skilled, devoted cat
lovers. Occasionally he has the opportunity to give the gift of life
to a gravely ill kitty. Lazarus is a very special member of The Cat
Clinic of Stillwater family. |
