During the hectic holiday season it is important to slow down and evaluate the important gifts in your life. Family, friends and our animal companions are the living gifts that enrich each day. During this holiday season, make time to spend with the living gifts. The holiday stress will be lifted as you share a hug, a caress or a simple smile.

Lazarus & his toy

When spending time with your cat make sure some time is devoted to creative and vigorous play. Animal behaviorists have discovered that many inappropriate behaviors occur when cats are bored. Cats have incredible senses and it is essential to provide a stimulating environment and exciting activities. The following items will entertain and exercise your cat:
  • Feather wands
  • Fishing poles (with assorted furry, feathery or catnip Laser pointers (now with mouse-shaped points of light)
  • Treat balls or puzzles
  • Towers, scratching posts and ladders (The book The Cat’s House has some great ideas)
  • Window perches and other raised observation points
Other thoughtful gifts for cats include:
  • Combs and brushes to help remove dead hair
  • Collars to hold identification and rabies tags as well as bells to alert others of the approaching kitty
  • Carriers to allow for safe travel for cat and chauffeur
Our cats brighten every day of the year. During this holiday season, "paws" to enjoy your cat and make gift selections that are appropriate for this astonishing, adaptable creature.
