Car seats, seat belts, helmets… these are all devices designed to protect our children and families. We cringe at the thought of our children being without any of these valuable safety precautions. Cat carriers, safely buckled into the car, provide the same level of care for our feline companions.

Carriers were designed to provide safe transport for our cats. While in carriers, pets have a better chance of surviving a car crash, are prevented from dashing into a dangerous street, and are less likely to harm or injure themselves or their owners. In addition, having a pet loose in the car with you is dangerous for you, your passengers, and other drivers and pedestrians. There have been fatalities (both human and feline) associated with pets being loose in vehicles. Some cats are more difficult than others to place in carriers, but with acclimation and good technique, all can be safely housed. The doctors and staff of the clinic will be happy to help you learn to successfully place your cat in his/her carrier.

Carriers are inexpensive and last for many years. They are available for purchase at veterinary clinics, discount outlets, specialty pet shops and online. They come in a variety of sizes and materials. If you make an appointment at The Cat Clinic prior to purchasing a carrier, you may borrow one of our carriers to transport your kitty to and from his appointment.

Your cat’s health is our first concern. A safe arrival and departure are essential for good health care.
