A sound hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), serious in its meaning, warning in its text that a person’s repentance will not be accepted if any of these terrifying and dreadful events, which contradict our experiences of life, occur. They are all among the major signs of the Hour that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us about.

Anglicized:

Rawā Muslim fī Ṣaḥīḥihi ‘an Abī Hurayrah raḍiya Allāhu ‘anhu qāla: qāla Rasūlu Allāh ṣallā Allāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam: Thalāth idhā kharajna lā yanfaʿ nafsan īmānhā lam takun āmant min qablu aw kasabat fī īmānihā khayran: ṭulūʿ al-shams min maghribihā, wa al-Dajjāl, wa Dābbat al-Arḍ.

Translation:

Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three things, when they appear, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or had not earned any good through its faith: the rising of the sun from its setting place (the west), the Antichrist (al-Dajjal), and the Beast of the Earth.

Prayers for Relieving Distress from the Sunnah

Problems infiltrate the lives of many people, and worries fill their hearts. Among the prayers they can supplicate with during distress, from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), are the following:

  1. O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed, and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the life of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety)
  2. O Allah, I hope for Your mercy, do not leave me to myself for the blink of an eye; rectify for me all of my affairs. There is no deity except You.
  3. Allah, Allah is my Lord; I do not associate anything with Him.
  4. There is no deity except Allah, the Magnificent, the Most Forbearing. There is no deity except Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth, and Lord of the Great Throne.
  5. There is no deity except You; glory be to You, indeed I have been among the wrongdoers.
  6. Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) asking for a servant and complaining of her work. He said: Shall I not guide you to what is better for you than a servant? When you go to bed, say SubhanAllah thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times.
  7. O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne, our Lord and the Lord of everything, You are the Evident, there is nothing above You, and You are the Hidden, there is nothing beyond You. Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Furqan (Quran), Splitter of the grain and the date stone. I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You hold by the forelock. You are the First, there is nothing before You, and You are the Last, there is nothing after You. Settle our debt for us and spare us from poverty.
  8. O Allah, I ask You because all praise is due to You, there is no deity except You, the Most Generous, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Possessor of majesty and honor, O Living, O Sustaining, I ask You.
  9. O Allah, Owner of the Kingdom, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humiliate whom You will. In Your hand is all good. Indeed, You are over all things competent. Most Merciful of this world and the Hereafter, You give them to whom You will and You prevent them from whom You will. Have mercy on me with a mercy that makes me independent of the mercy of anyone else.
  10. O Allah, suffice me with what is lawful against what is prohibited and make me independent of all others by Your bounty.
  11. O Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth and the Great Throne, our Lord and the Lord of everything, Splitter of the grain and the date stone, Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Furqan (Quran), I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You hold by the forelock. O Allah, You are the First, there is nothing before You, and You are the Last, there is nothing after You. You are the Evident, there is nothing above You, and You are the Hidden, there is nothing beyond You. Settle our debt for us and spare us from poverty.
  12. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from laziness and senility, from sin and debt, from the trial of the grave and the punishment of the grave, from the trial of the Fire and the punishment of the Fire, from the evil of the trial of wealth, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of poverty. I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Antichrist. O Allah, wash away my sins with snow and hail, cleanse my heart from sins as You cleanse a white garment from dirt, and distance me from my sins as You have distanced the East from the West.
  13. My Lord, forgive my sins, my ignorance, and my excess in all my affairs, and that which You are more knowledgeable of than I am. O Allah, forgive my mistakes, my intentional wrongdoings, my ignorance, and my jesting, all of which I have done. O Allah, forgive me for what I have sent ahead and what I have delayed, what I have concealed, and what I have disclosed. You are the Advancer, You are the Delayer, and You are over all things competent.

It was narrated that Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, may God be pleased with her, was asked about the most amazing thing she had seen from the Messenger of (Allah) God, may God bless him and grant him peace. She cried and then said: Everything about him was amazing. He came to me on the night that he was with me, and he laid next to me until my skin touched his skin, then he said: O Aisha, will you not excuse me? May I worship my Lord Almighty? So I said: O Messenger of God: By God, I love your closeness and I love your desires – that is, I love that you do not separate from me, and I love what pleases you from what you desire – She said: So he stood up to a waterskin in the house and performed ablution without pouring much water, then he stood up to pray and perform tahajjud and cried in his prayer until his beard was wet, then he prostrated and cried. Until he wet the ground, then he laid on his side and cried, until when Bilal came to call him to the dawn prayer, he saw him crying and said, O Messenger of God: What makes you cry when God has forgiven you for your past and future sins? He said to him: Woe to you, Bilal. What prevents me from crying when God has revealed this to me?

Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding 190Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): “Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire 191Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him, and never will the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) find any helpers 192Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one (Muhammad SAW) calling to Faith: ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and remit from us our evil deeds, and make us die in the state of righteousness along with Al-Abrar (those who are obedient to Allah and follow strictly His Orders) 193Our Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection, for You never break (Your) Promise 194So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), “Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female. You are (members) one of another, so those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes, and suffered harm in My Cause, and who fought, and were killed (in My Cause), verily, I will remit from them their evil deeds and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); a reward from Allah, and with Allah is the best of rewards 195Let not the free disposal (and affluence) of the disbelievers throughout the land deceive you 196A brief enjoyment; then, their ultimate abode is Hell; and worst indeed is that place for rest 197But, for those who fear their Lord, are Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); therein are they to dwell (for ever), an entertainment from Allah; and that which is with Allah is the Best for Al-Abrar (those who are obedient to Allah and follow strictly His Orders) 198And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in Allah and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before Allah. They do not sell the Verses of Allah for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, Allah is Swift in account 199O you who believe! Endure and be more patient (than your enemy), and guard your territory by stationing army units permanently at the places from where the enemy can attack you, and fear Allah, so that you may be successful 200

So he recited it until the end of the surah, then said: Woe to the one who reads it and does not think about it. These are the verses that made our Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, cry, O beloved ones, and disturbed his sleep and did not allow him to enjoy sleep during that night. So he used to recite them in his prayers and cry while standing and prostrating, and he cried while lying down. Yes, they are great verses that make people shudder. From it the bodies shake and hearts shake at it, the hearts of those with understanding who remember God standing, sitting, and on their sides, and contemplate the creation of the heavens and the earth, but not all hearts are like that! Could reflections on the kingdom of God ? can we think more about Allah ? >>And we sensed His greatness, Glory be to Him? If we did that, we would cry out of fear of God when hearing or reading these verses, but God is the one who complains about the hardness in our hearts and the heedlessness in our minds. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said ((Two eyes cannot be touched by fire, an eye that wept out of fear of God and an eye that spent the night guarding for the sake of God)) Oh God, enlighten our hearts with the light of the Qur’an. Oh God, we ask you for a submissive heart, a remembering tongue, a submissive heart, useful knowledge, and good deeds. These verses are the last ten verses of Surat Al Imran, and this verse is the first verse in it
The aforementioned hadith was narrated by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih and elsewhere, and it is authentic, as Sheikh Al-Albani, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said in Al-Silsilah Al-Sahih.

As the noble questioner pointed out, it is a sermon to those who learn

We ask God Almighty to make us among His righteous servants
